Travis's birthday last week gave us the opportunity to re-visit a favorite restaurant. Canoe was closed for quite some time due to flood damage from the rain last year. Set on the Chattahoochee River, this classic restaurant is back and better than ever. The remodel did not effect the integrity or style of this elegantly rustic cabin. The grounds are more beautiful and lush than I remembered.
The seasonal menu specializes in local organic offerings. There were so many delicious options its was difficult to make a decision. Travis ordered off the menu, selecting the fried green tomato appetizer followed by the rabbit. Our waitress recommended the rabbit, and Travis loved every flavor-filled bite! I decided on two specials (when in Rome). I devoured a fresh arugula salad garnished with figs, prosciutto and feta cheese. It was AMAZING! This delicious starter was followed by the special swordfish, which was served sliced over an assortment of roasted organic vegetables grown in Canoe's very own garden and topped with a pesto sauce. Every bite was cherished.
It was an amazing birthday dinner and celebration. If you have not been to Canoe since it re-opened I highly recommend it. (Or if you have never been). Go on a nice night and walk the grounds with a cocktail. It makes for a very romantic date night.
Enjoy!
oh! I meant to comment on this one...since I've already been to Abbattoir!
